Our Team

The Workers’ Welfare Department is run by a multi-disciplinary team of experts, driven by a shared passion for establishing the best welfare practices for our workers on FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ projects. We work with great pride and resolve, knowing that the work we are doing today is setting a precedent in securing workers’ rights in Qatar and across the region – even beyond the tournament.

The workforce on our sites is diverse, multi-cultural and over 30,000 strong. It is important that we hear and understand the needs and concerns of every worker to develop long-term, sustainable initiatives carefully designed for their wellbeing. Our approach is simple – first we listen, then we deliver.

This is why our system puts great emphasis on giving workers a voice through our Workers’ Welfare Forums, a means to empower them to express their grievances and provide suggestions for remediation.

We also prioritise spending significant time visiting workers on project and accommodation sites, ensuring that they are fully aware of their rights and encouraging them to speak with candour and without fear of retaliation about issues they may be facing.

The team also works closely with our contractors, ensuring the enforcement of our Workers’ Welfare Standards across the programme. Our commitment to workers’ welfare is further bolstered by collaborations with stakeholders and partners, as we work cohesively to build a lasting legacy for our workers beyond 2022.
